Community Guidelines

Versio connects people across languages and cultures. These guidelines keep it a place where everyone feels safe to talk. They are part of our Terms of Service.

Be respectful

You're talking to a real person, often from a different culture. Be curious and kind. Remember that automatic translation can change tone — if something sounds rude, check the original or ask before assuming the worst.

What's not allowed

  • Harassment and bullying — threats, intimidation, insults, stalking, repeated unwanted contact, or encouraging others to do so.
  • Hate — attacking or demeaning people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or serious illness.
  • Sexual content — unsolicited sexual messages or images, non‑consensual intimate content, and any sexual content involving minors, which we report to the authorities.
  • Violence and self‑harm — threatening or glorifying violence, terrorism or self‑harm.
  • Spam and scams — bulk or unsolicited messages, advertising, fake offers, phishing, romance or investment scams, or asking for money or financial details.
  • Illegal activity — selling or promoting illegal goods or services, or any content that breaks the law.
  • Impersonation and privacy violations — pretending to be someone else, or sharing someone's private information (such as address, phone number or photos) without consent.
  • Abusing the translation — deliberately using the app to spread misinformation or to evade blocks or bans.

How to block a user

Blocking is instant and the other person is not notified.

  1. Open the chat with the person.
  2. Tap their name or the menu at the top of the chat. [TODO: confirm exact in‑app path]
  3. Tap Block and confirm. You won't receive any more messages from them.

How to report abuse

If someone breaks these guidelines, block them and email us so we can act:

Please include:

  • the email or display name of the user you're reporting;
  • what happened and roughly when;
  • screenshots of the messages, if you can.

We review reports [TODO: e.g. within 24 hours]. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Consequences

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Depending on how serious the violation is, we may:

  • remove the content;
  • issue a warning;
  • temporarily suspend the account;
  • permanently ban the account and prevent new sign‑ups from the same person;
  • report illegal content to law enforcement.

Serious violations — such as threats of violence, child sexual abuse material or targeted hate — lead to an immediate permanent ban.
